Blog 15: Independent Component 2 Approval

1.  Describe in detail what you plan to do for your 30 hours.

For my thirty hours I plan to interview parents about their parenting styles and the way they raised their children. My interview will consist of questions about how they were raised and how that affected the choices they made with there own kids.
2.  Discuss how or what you will do to meet the expectation of showing 30 hours of evidence.
I will keep transcripts from the interviews and compile them together as evidence.
3.  Explain how this component will help you explore your topic in more depth.

This component will allow me to get an up close and personal look at parents and how parenting affects development. The reason I want to do this is because A child's home life directly affects the way they learn in school.
4.  Post a log in your Senior Project Hours link and label it "Independent Component 2" log.

Independent Component 1

  • LITERAL
“I, Patty Arellano, affirm that I completed my independent component which represents 31  hours and 23 minutes of work.”
    (b) Cite your source regarding who or what article or book helped you complete the independent component.

My mentor Ms. Adrian and the other teachers at my mentor ship helped me the most in guiding my activities                      and giving me advice on how to make them go more smoothly. Also the article Art Influences Learning by                    Anna Reyner gave me valuable back ground that helped me pick my activities

  • (c) Update your hours in your Senior Project Hours link. Make sure it is clearly labeled with hours for individual sessions as well as total hours.
                  Updated Hours Click Here :)
  • (d) Explain what you completed.
For my independent component my mentor let me lead the class room once a week by creating activities that
helped the kids learn a concept, idea or practice a skill. So every week I prepared an activity for the class to                        complete.
  • INTERPRETIVE
Defend your work and explain its significance to your project and how it demonstrates 30 hours of work.   Provide evidence (photos, transcript, art work, videos, etc) of the 30 hours of work.
My work helped me developed my first answer and create the activity for my first lesson. They also helped me get real life insight to where all the kids are developmentally
  • APPLIED
How did the component help you understand the foundation of your topic better?  Please include specific examples to illustrate this.
This component helped my come up with my first answer. After doing all these activities with them and seeing how much they learned from doing it I realized that preschool did play a key role in helping kids understand fundamental concepts.

Blog 7: Independent Component 1 Approval

1.  Describe in detail what you plan to do for your 30 hours.
For the 30 hours that we need to meet for the independent component I plan to continue working at campus kids with my mentor Adrianne. To fully take advantage of this project I talked to my mentor and she is letting me do a craft with the kids twice a week for a period of one month. I plan on using various websites and teaching blogs to help me design an activity that can be both fun and educational.
2.  Discuss how or what you will do to meet the expectation of showing 30 hours of evidence.
To show 30 hours of work being done to meet the requirement of 30 hours I plan on using pictures to document  my students doing the activity and recording the time it takes me to set up and create the activity with my mentor to verify.
3.  And explain how what you will be doing will help you explore your topic in more depth.
Creating and executing a craft with a group of children will better help me see what skills are important and how doing different exercise can inspire different aspects of learning for children.
